How ALE Works

ALE imports salary expense, distributes it, and posts summary entries to the GL.

  1. ALE imports salary compensation data from other systems.

  2. System generated entries are added.  Some are listed above but ALE can generate anything from vacancy postings to non-salary compensation.

  3. Entries are routed by supporting rules.  Wage expense is allocated by salary allocation rules.  An ALE Journal batch is created.

  4. Payroll entries are generated (not shown).  For example, all tax detail is summarized and routed to the proper tax accounts.  Gross to net entries are created.

  5. After manual review the journal can be exported to the ALE Ledger and summary entries exported to the external GL.

  6. The detail stored in ALE is used for inquiries, the Web Reporting System, and the Time and Effort Approval System.
